Addis Ababa Achieves 95% of Annual Plan, Says Mayor Adanech Abiebie

The Addis Ababa City Administration announced a significant achievement in its annual goals, with Mayor Adanech Abiebie reporting a 95 percent completion rate for the 2017 Ethiopian Calendar year plan. The announcement was made during a city-wide review of last year's performance and a strategic discussion for the upcoming 2018 fiscal year.

Speaking at the forum, Mayor Adanech highlighted key successes, stating the year was marked by substantial progress in addressing good governance issues and the completion of over 15,900 projects. She emphasized the transformative impact of corridor development, which has "beautified the city's appearance," and the successful provision of replacement land plots to affected communities.

The Mayor also detailed efforts to bolster the city's economy, noting advancements in resolving industrial challenges and significantly boosting productivity through the local production of substitute goods. To combat the rising cost of living and alleviate economic pressure on residents, she explained that the administration facilitated the diversification of product supply channels and market options, while also empowering citizens to engage in productive activities for their own benefit.

Mayor Adanech further commended the city's financial performance, citing "excellent revenue collection results" in the 2017 budget year. This strong financial standing, she added, enabled the implementation of inclusive development projects across the city. Notably, 71 percent of the collected revenue was directly allocated to sustainable development initiatives and poverty reduction programs.
