Only dialogue serves, saves Ethiopia
It’s true that Ethiopia has ticked off and triumphed over ranges of challenges, this ancient cradle of civilization endured tests of time to embark on what it is today. Yet it has inherited challenges, which have transcended successive generations. Statecraft, I think, needs several years to come as it does everywhere else in the world. ,and it’s the ongoing national dialogue which, according to scholars, is the only way to serve and save Ethiopia .
That’s why Ethiopia has paused ,for the first time in its history, to seriously deal with challenges through dialogues ---bottlenecks which have been often blamed for dragging Ethiopia back . Now is the high time to act in support of the statecraft ---which is being spearheaded by the national dialogue commission. Moreover, as commission itself is insisting Ethiopians entirely do have roles to play in the attempt to remake Ethiopia tick ahead.
Although we had proved our unity by leaving our minor differences aside when intruders dared to take advantage of, in the passages of history, yet we have left some unsolved ,but minor internal issues which need to be dealt with. Differences are normal, natural and full of benefits for states to function; some still require dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation.
As well chronicled, we fought each other, but we all lost. Neither the loser nor the winner can profit from wars of brothers and sisters, both sides suffered the aftermath. Wars of brothers pull generations back to hundreds of years, if not thousands. So , what we have at hand right now , the only irreplaceable solution for Ethiopia today is dialogue ,communication and reconciliation.
There are ranges of twisted and distorted rhetoric, which need to be addressed as the dialogue commission continues establishing platforms and lanes for Ethiopians to take advantage of in their aspiration to be fairly and equally promoted, treated and heard . The dialogue will create huge opportunities for diverse identities to be promoted, all along in the course of the national dialogue ,long unheard voices will be entertained ,twisted tales will be reshaped as per the interests of respective groups .
No one denies that Ethiopia has long failed to adapt global socio-economic and political perspectives into its local contexts and home-grown ideas , such as applying its own solution for its own problems—in this case the national dialogues .
The dialogue is an irreplaceable discourse to mitigate accumulated political, economic, and social disputes through own wisdom. We Ethiopians, including our allies, are now hoping to make the national dialogue a reality, craving suitable grounds for the healing and reconciliation process to bear fruit.
