Ethiopia Parliament Unlocks Multi-Million Dollar Funding for Green Economy, Education

Ethiopia's House of People's Representatives has just given the green light to crucial international agreements set to inject millions into vital sectors and strengthen key partnerships.

In a major move today, the Parliament approved four significant deals, including a substantial €11.5 million credit agreement with the Italian government specifically targeting environmental and green economy development. This funding is poised to boost Ethiopia's sustainability efforts significantly.

Education is also set for a massive boost. A $50 million loan agreement with the International Development Association (IDA) for transforming the learning and teaching sector received parliamentary approval, paving the way for vital educational advancements.

Adding to the strategic approvals, the House also ratified the agreement establishing the African Finance Corporation, a move signaling Ethiopia's commitment to strengthening continental financial institutions. Furthermore, a transport agreement signed between Ethiopia and the government of Austria was also approved.

These approvals mark a key step in securing essential resources and partnerships for Ethiopia's future development across critical areas like the environment, education, and regional finance.
