Ethiopia's State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, held discussions earlier today with Graham Maitland, the United Nations Director for the Eastern African Division of the Department of Political and Peace Building Affairs and Operations.
The meeting, held at the State Minister's office, focused on the current peace and security situation in the Eastern African region.
During their discussion, State Minister Hadera Abera provided an update on the progress of the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement. He also reiterated the Ethiopian government's continued commitment to achieving lasting peace and stability through established transitional justice mechanisms and national dialogue processes.
Ambassador Hadera commended the United Nations for its support in Ethiopia's peacebuilding efforts and reaffirmed the country's dedication to enhancing its contributions to regional peace and stability.
In response, Director Maitland acknowledged Ethiopia's crucial role as a key UN partner in the Horn of Africa. He also highlighted Ethiopia's significant standing within both the African Union and IGAD, urging the nation to continue strengthening its support for regional initiatives.
