The Culture and Tourism Bureau of the Central Ethiopia Region announced that development work is underway on 111 tourist destinations in the region.
According to Degeneh Bogale, deputy head of the bureau, the development of tourist destinations plays a significant role in increasing tourist flow and stimulating the tourism sector.
He explained that the region has numerous natural and cultural tourist attractions, including waterfalls, protected forests, stelae, and caves.
The deputy head stated that the bureau is actively working to boost the tourism sector in the region, and as part of this effort, 111 tourist destinations have been identified and are undergoing development.
He stated that over 447,000 tourists visited attractions in the region over the past nine months, generating more than 824.9 million Birr in revenue.
To further enhance the sector, he mentioned that the bureau is collaborating with stakeholders on the development of service-providing institutions and infrastructure construction projects.
He pointed out that the construction of lodges and various infrastructure projects has already begun around the Tiya stelae site, FBC reported.
