City Development Projects to Continue, Aiming for Global Standards States Mayor

Addis Ababa City Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that ongoing corridor development projects will be intensified to provide residents with a modern city and enhance its international competitiveness.

Speaking at the 3rd regular meeting of the 4th year of the Addis Ababa City Council term, Mayor Adanech responded to various questions raised by council members.

Addressing queries about the corridor development, the mayor highlighted the reformist government's extensive efforts to make the capital beautiful and clean, living up to its name. She reiterated that the corridor development is being undertaken to make Addis Ababa convenient for its residents and elevate its global standing, in line with commitments made.

Mayor Adanech stressed that a competitive city must meet certain criteria, particularly in infrastructure. She cited improvements in sewage systems, road networks, transportation, and green spaces as crucial examples being addressed by the development.

She explained that the corridor development, initiated to close Addis Ababa's infrastructure gaps, has brought significant benefits. It has empowered the public to live in pleasant, clean, and healthy environments, creating a better setting for raising families.

Furthermore, she noted the projects have substantially increased the city's green coverage. The corridor development has also contributed to improving the city's road network and has generated numerous job opportunities for citizens.
