His Holiness Abune Mathias I, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC), met with Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Agostino Palese, to discuss ongoing humanitarian relief efforts and strengthen diplomatic ties.
The meeting, held at the EOTC Patriarchate, focused on Italy's continued support for those affected by crises within Ethiopia.
During the occasion, Ambassador Palese expressed his gratitude for the Patriarch's presence at the recent Italian National Day celebrations in Addis Ababa.
He emphasised the importance of the EOTC's role in Ethiopian society and its contribution to the nation's well-being. The ambassador also highlighted Italy's commitment to providing relief to communities impacted by both man-made and natural disasters throughout Ethiopia.
"We are deeply committed to supporting the Ethiopian people during these challenging times. Our partnership with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is invaluable in ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most. We recognise the Church's extensive network and its deep understanding of the needs within local communities,” stated Ambassador Palese, according to a statement released by the Italian Embassy.
