Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today welcomed General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and a distinguished leader of the U.S. Marine Corps, to Addis Ababa for high-level discussions.
In a tweet shared by the Prime Minister's office, PM Abiy described the meeting, stating, "Today, our halls welcomed a singular presence: General Michael Langley, the esteemed Commander of U.S. AFRICOM and a guiding force of the U.S. Marine Corps."
The Prime Minister emphasized the nature of their engagement, noting, "In an atmosphere steeped in mutual respect and strategic contemplation, our dialogue unfurled, tracing the intricate contours of our shared bonds and navigating the complex currents of regional aspirations that weave our collective destinies."
The talks are understood to have focused on bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and the United States, as well as critical regional security and stability issues impacting the Horn of Africa. General Langley's visit underscores the ongoing diplomatic and security engagement between the two nations amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics in the region.
