Ethiopian distance runners delivered standout performances at the Paris Diamond League meet, with Yomif Kejelcha dominating the men's 5,000 meters and Lamecha Girma securing a decisive win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Kejelcha's Commanding 5,000m Win
Yomif Kejelcha showcased his prowess in the 5,000m, crossing the finish line in an impressive 12 minutes, 47.84 seconds. Other Ethiopian competitors in the race included Samuel Tefera, who placed 5th, while Mezgebu Sime and Gemechu Dida finished 11th and 13th, respectively.
Girma Leads Ethiopian Charge in Steeplechase
World record holder Lamecha Girma continued his strong form in the 3,000m steeplechase, taking first place with a time of 8 minutes, 07.01 seconds. Fellow Ethiopian Getnet Wale also earned a podium finish, securing 3rd place with a time of 8 minutes, 12.58 seconds. Abraham Sime rounded out the Ethiopian results in this event, finishing 8th.
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Simbo Alemayehu achieved a commendable 3rd-place finish, clocking 9 minutes, 01.22 seconds. Lomi Muleta completed the race in 9th position.
