A summit aimed at fostering a supportive environment that empowers individuals and communities to make healthier choices, ultimately improving health and well being was held here in Addis Ababa.
The Social & Behavioral Change Summit was first held in Addis Ababa back in 2016. This morning the third national and behavioral summit took place, planning to wrap up by Feb 29.
Organized by the Ministry of Health, the Ethiopian Health Education & Promotion Professionals Association and donor organizations, the SBC targets to address underlying determinants of health there by preventing diseases and enhancing overall well being.
In her keynote address to participants, Ethiopia’s newly-appointed Minister of Health, Mekides Daba, said SBC is critical to change behavioral attitudes of the society to transform the lives of individuals and communities through knowledge, experience sharing among health professionals from Ethiopia and across the globe.
Key figures from Ethiopian health institutions both private and public and international donors deliberated on resilient mechanisms of the health of the society impacted by conflict and drought.
During the 3 day summit research papers will be presented and panel discussions will be held.//
