Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) - the biggest and oldest state-owned bank in the country - won the 9th International Islamic Retail Banking Award.
During a recently held award ceremony in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, CBE was given an award in the last financial year 2023 as “the most promising Retail Islamic Banking.”
The banks’ CBE Noor Vice President, Nuri Husen, received the award. The Nuri Husen stated that the award was given to CBE Noor Banking Service for its commitment to the implementation of Islamic banking services without interruption and the implementation of Sharia principles in financial performance over the years.
He also indicated that the award came during CBE’s 10th anniversary of the launch of the CBE Noor service.
Abe Sano, President of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, on his part said CBE will do all that is expected to strengthen the contribution of CBE Noor interest-free banking service in the economy.
