Ethiopian Diaspora communities from different provinces of South Africa have celebrated Easter in Pretoria. On the Occasion, Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of South Africa, accredited to Botswana, Namibia, Madagascar, ESwatini, and Lesotho said celebrating Easter reminds us to stand together in solidarity in the sea of challenges. Ethiopia’s resilience has been scrutinized in global arena while striving for better tomorrow. This day marks for our country that "Unity is our Achilles hill cementing our diversity beyond place and time. Economic reforms embarked by our government while mobilizing entire population from all walks of life yields promising result of which wheat production is vivid reality. Though positive results were recorded, the road ahead of us is rough and full of challenges. In this regard, diaspora communities have to play their lion’s share."
Yohannes Habib, President of Ethiopian Community Union in South Africa, reiterated that "unity and hardworking is in our blood, victory of Adwa and construction of GERD are manifestations of patriotism in the fields of territorial integrity and development by self-reliance.” He added that diaspora community has to engage on supporting motherland: Ethiopia.
Melakemewi Aba Mengiste’ab, Hamerenoh St. Kidanemihiret church said that "as Easter is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Ethiopia’s resurrection will be materialized by our collective engagement”. He further noted that “Easter is peace and love besides walking out of darkness and misery”.
Secretary of Ethiopian Religious Union in South Africa, Pastor Birhanu Tamire on his part said "the Glory of God has been manifested through His revelation which we can learn more from Easter." According to Pastor Berhanu, Easter is the day of jubilation and happiness while the Lord Jesus Christ has uplifted the trodden to the mountain of victory.
