A pre-inauguration ceremony for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is being held today, attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and senior government officials, including former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.

The event, which includes a drone show and other performances, is being broadcast live on EBC. The celebration comes ahead of the dam's official inauguration, a project that has long been a source of national pride for Ethiopia.
