Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed delivered a message centered on national unity and optimism, invoking Ethiopia’s proud historical heritage to illustrate how the country’s greatest milestones have always been built on shared sacrifice and collective effort.

Recalling the iconic monuments of Axum, Lalibela, and the castles of Fasilides, the Prime Minister emphasized that none of these historic wonders were built in isolation. Instead, he explained, they were the tangible result of Medemer, the combined blood, sweat, and synergy of all Ethiopian people working together. He stressed that just as unity forged the great achievements of the past, the principle of synergy remains the only viable path to overcoming today’s trials and building a stronger nation. Warning that internal division and hostility only create vulnerabilities for external adversaries, he called on citizens to reject hatred and focus on what binds them together.

Drawing on time-tested cultural practices, the Prime Minister urged the public to rely on traditional values of mediation, reconciliation, and restitution to heal current social fractures and build a shared future. He expressed deep confidence in the wisdom and resilience of the Amhara people, stating his firm belief that they will overcome their current temporary challenges. Ultimately, he called on the Amhara public to embrace their historical legacy and play their rightful role in driving economic growth and stability across their region, the nation, and the broader African continent.
