During the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Djibouti's President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh described the project as a monumental achievement that has astonished the entire world.
Speaking at the event, President Guelleh declared it a "historic day," expressing the global community's admiration for the dam and the remarkable effort of the Ethiopian people.
He emphasized that since Ethiopians built this massive project using their own capabilities, the victory is a triumph for all of Africa.
"We express our admiration for the Ethiopian people," the president stated, calling the day a "day of victory." He added that all Ethiopians, including those of the diaspora, as well as the engineers and experts who contributed to the dam's construction, deserve praise for their efforts.
