Public Rallies Celebrate GERD Completion in Jijiga, Bonga, Across Ethiopia

Public rallies are being held in various cities across Ethiopia to celebrate the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The dam's inauguration has been met with widespread public support, with citizens taking to the streets in different regions to express their joy and pride in the national project.

In the southwest region, a massive rally was held in Bonga town, Kaffa Zone, with participants from all zones and city administrations. A public rally also took place in Jijiga town, Somali Region. Residents at the Jijiga rally described the dam as a symbol of national unity, stating that the project's success proves that "nothing is impossible when people stand for a common goal."

The celebrations reflect the deep sense of national unity and self-reliance that the GERD project has come to symbolize, having been largely financed by contributions from the Ethiopian people.
