Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has appointed two new officials to lead key government institutions, with the changes taking effect on September 19th, 2025.

Dr. Eyob Tekalign has been appointed the new Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia. Dr. Eyob previously served as the State Minister of Finance and brings extensive experience in economic policy, public finance, and international development to the role.

In a separate appointment, Enatalem Meles has been named the Head of the Government Communication Service, with the rank of Minister. She will be responsible for leading the government's communication strategy and keeping the public informed on national affairs.
