A new application called "youcan" has launched in Ethiopia, providing a unique and profitable solution to waste management. The platform connects waste generators—including hotels, businesses, and households—with buyers, effectively turning garbage into a source of income.

The app's primary function is to streamline the recycling process, helping users produce clean goods while earning money. It works by allowing collectors to gather waste from various locations. Once the waste is collected, it's weighed and the data is entered into the app, which then calculates its monetary value.

The youcan platform features two main user types: those who have waste to give away and those who collect it. The app uses a notification system to alert collectors when waste is ready for pickup, providing precise directions, including the house number, to ensure easy and efficient collection.

Beyond its economic benefits, the organization behind the app, which operates under the motto "Waste is Money," states that the collected materials can be repurposed for biogas and bio-fertilizer production. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in fostering a cleaner and greener Ethiopia.
