PM Abiy Ahmed Forges Key Alliances on Nuclear Energy, Development at Russia Forum

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) engaged in a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the International Atomic Forum in Russia, focusing on strengthening Ethiopia's partnerships in energy, development, and defense.

During his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the two leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including power generation, agriculture, healthcare, and defense cooperation. A key point of discussion, according to the Prime Minister's Office, was the agreement to jointly develop a nuclear power plant that would provide clean energy for community services.

The Prime Minister also held a discussion with Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Abiy met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. In a social media post, the Prime Minister noted that their discussion covered bilateral and international issues. He added that they explored opportunities for joint investment, particularly in agricultural mechanization.
