Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh officially inaugurated the Children and Youth Theater Complex in Addis Ababa over the weekend, a major project funded and executed by the City Administration.
Constructed entirely for theater and cinema purposes, the complex boasts a modern standard designed specifically to facilitate high-quality artistic work.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted art and culture as a key sector the government has prioritized during the recent years of reform. He stated that the successful completion and inauguration of the complex clearly demonstrate the administration’s continued focus and commitment to the arts.
He also observed that Addis Ababa is rapidly evolving into a city suitable for the arts, stressing that this growing potential must be leveraged to contribute effectively to nation-building.
While acknowledging that artistic works are becoming increasingly market-oriented, the Deputy Prime Minister urged art professionals to be guided by a stronger sense of purpose rather than merely focusing on targets.
The deputy prime minister called for the complex to be utilized collaboratively and free from bureaucracy. This approach, he noted, will allow veteran art professionals to effectively train the youth and mentor newcomers in the field.
