Ethiopia and Italy have formalized a €4.1 million agreement aimed at significantly enhancing healthcare services at hospitals in Shire and Gondar.

The deal, signed in Addis Ababa, reaffirms the two nations' enduring partnership focused on resilience, recovery, and development, according to officials.

Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, and the Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Agostino Palese, formally signed the agreement.

Minister Ahmed emphasized the critical nature of the project, highlighting its particular importance for the Tigray and Amhara regions, which have recently endured conflict, displacement, and severe disruption of public services. The funding is specifically targeted at strengthening the capacity of the hospitals in these conflict-affected areas.
