State Minister of the Government Communication Service (GCS), Tesfahun Gobezai, lauded the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) for its initiative in launching a new mobile application, highlighting it as a critical step toward realizing the vision of a Digital Ethiopia. Gobezai emphasized that institutions must play a vital role in this transformation, stating, "Digital Ethiopia, which can independently create jobs and wealth and stimulate other sectors, must be implemented not only by individuals but also by institutions."
The minister praised EBC for developing the app using its own capabilities, calling it a tangible contribution to the national digital journey. He underscored the progress made over the past seven years toward establishing a digital economy and the government’s comprehensive plan, "Digital Ethiopia 2030."
The launch, which was also attended by Isaias Jira, president of the Ethiopian Football Federation, was hailed as a "radical change from analog to digital." Isaias noted the app’s utility for providing sports updates, ensuring the community can readily access information "whether at work or anywhere." The government hopes this initiative will inspire other institutions to embrace digital transformation, providing Ethiopians with convenient access to information crucial for informed participation in society.
