Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission Invites Diaspora to Participate in Key Discussions

The National Dialogue Commission has called on Ethiopians and those of Ethiopian descent living abroad, particularly in North America, to participate in the national dialogue process. The commission announced that it has finalized preparations to allow the diaspora community to physically attend and contribute their own agenda items.

Starting on August 30, 2025, the commission will hold its agenda-setting phase in Washington, D.C. According to Reta Gera, the commissions coordinator for the diaspora, this is a crucial step to ensure the full involvement of the community.

The commission has urged the diaspora to bring forward topics they believe are essential for achieving national consensus. While encouraging active participation, the commission also confirmed it will present its past work to the community during the sessions.

To reach a wider audience, the dialogue process will be held in several key cities, including:

Washington, D.C. (North America)

Toronto (Canada)

London (United Kingdom)

Stockholm (Sweden)

Dubai (Middle East)

For those unable to attend in person, arrangements have been made to allow participation via Zoom technology, ensuring the process remains inclusive. A separate program for selecting participants for the main National Dialogue Conference will also be announced at a later date.
