The Gulf and Africa Economic Cooperation Forum, aimed at elevating economic ties between African and Gulf nations to a higher level, has officially commenced in Addis Ababa. The forum seeks to deliberate on how to leverage the increasing flow of investment from Gulf countries to Africa to accelerate industrial expansion, economic transformation, and sustainable strategic partnerships.

Currently, the Gulf region is becoming an increasingly vital economic and strategic partner for many African nations. Consequently, investments from Gulf states are expanding beyond traditional sectors to focus on modern development fields, including infrastructure and logistics, renewable energy, agriculture, manufacturing, financial services, and digital innovation.

Ethiopia is currently implementing its Homegrown Economic Reform program, which aims to expand investment, strengthen regional integration, enhance industrial productivity, and position the country as a competitive gateway to African and global markets. 

Having long-standing and close ties with Gulf nations, Ethiopia views this forum as a crucial opportunity to elevate existing friendships into a deeper strategic partnership and attract fresh investment opportunities.
