Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) today officially inaugurated the new terminal at the Bahir Dar Dejazmach Belay Zeleke International Airport, marking a major milestone for one of Ethiopia’s primary aviation gateways.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Abiy emphasized that the project represents far more than a modern terminal. Following the challenges Bahir Dar has experienced in the very recent past, he noted that the expansion stands as a testament to resilience, recovery, and continued investment in the region's future.

The project significantly enhances the airport’s overall capacity and passenger experience. The upgrade features expanded aircraft facilities, modern infrastructure, improved access roads, and updated amenities tailored to serve the region’s growing operational needs.

Together with ongoing urban transformation across the city, the new terminal positions Bahir Dar as another key hub for both domestic and international flights.

Concluding his message, Prime Minister Abiy expressed hope that the local community will continue to safeguard peace in order to fully reap the economic rewards that a vibrant city like Bahir Dar offers.
