Ethiopia is expected to participate in the International Marching Band Festival for the first time. That is according to major General Endalkachew Wolde Michael, Director General of the Ethiopian Defense Forces' Psychological Development Directorate.
During a press briefing, the Major General stated that the defense forces are focusing on efforts to boost their global acceptance and international competitiveness. He explained that a key part of this work involves implementing new procedures to enhance the army's special skills and capabilities.
Major General Endalkachew noted that Ethiopia received the invitation to the festival in Moscow, Russia, a year ago, a sign of its increasing international standing. The 50-member marching band from the Defense Arts Directorate has now completed its preparations and is set to travel to Russia tonight.
According to ENA, over its two-week stay, the team will showcase the Ethiopian Defense Forces' marching prowess to the global community. He concluded by explaining that the festival serves a dual purpose, not only featuring performances but also fostering diplomatic relations and cultural exchange among countries.
