An Ethiopian delegation, led by State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, is in Yokohama, Japan, for the ministerial segment of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). The main summit is scheduled to take place from August 20-22, 2025.
The conference is a crucial platform that brings together African leaders, Japan, and international partners to discuss and advance shared goals in peace, security, and sustainable development. Key topics for discussion include youth and women's empowerment, climate resilience, regional integration, and promoting public-private partnerships.
Ethiopia is represented not only by government officials but also by key stakeholders, including Ethiopian Airlines. On the sidelines of the main conference, the delegation is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Japanese and other international partners to strengthen relationships and explore new areas of cooperation.
Since its inception in 1993, the TICAD process has served as a vital mechanism for African-led cooperation, aligning with both the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the UN 2030 Agenda.
