Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit to deepen economic partnerships and address key regional security issues.

Building on Prime Minister Ibrahim’s historic visit to Addis Ababa in November 2025, discussions with Malaysia focused on expanding investments, tourism, renewable energy partnerships, and joint cooperation ahead of COP32.

The leaders also explored opportunities to leverage Malaysia’s experience in industrial parks, productivity, and manufacturing to unlock a stronger economic partnership grounded in investment, technology, skills, and sustainable development.

In his meeting with President Pezeshkian as part of the BRICS Plus family, Prime Minister Abiy centered talks on developments in the Red Sea and the broader regional security landscape, highlighting the vital importance of dialogue and regional stability.
