Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) released his official Meskel holiday message today, urging Ethiopians to draw inspiration from the festival's traditions to build a formidable national capacity.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Meskel is celebrated both religiously and culturally across the country. He underscored the familial and social nature of the holiday, describing it as a special time when families reunite and neighborhoods come together.

Highlighting the tradition of city residents and surrounding communities gathering in a single public square, PM Abiy drew a direct parallel to national unity. He explained that the very act of assembling individual pieces of wood to construct the Demera bonfire serves as a powerful symbol demonstrating the concept of synergy, or Medemer.

He urged citizens to apply this principle to the country's future, stating that every time the holiday is celebrated, the public should strive to gather and synergize Ethiopia’s potential to build a great national capacity.

Concluding his address, Prime Minister Abiy wished the public a happy holiday. He expressed his hope that Ethiopia will live forever, remaining honored and respected through the efforts of her children—and offered a final prayer for the Creator to bless the nation and its people.
