PM Abiy Ahmed Takes Oath for Second Term as Ethiopia Establishes New Parliamentary Leadership

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) officially took the oath of office for a second term as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia during the foundational first regular session of the seventh House of Peoples' Representatives. The swearing-in marked a major milestone at the start of the seventh parliamentary term as the nation's legislative institutions convened to establish their leadership.

During the inaugural session of the House of Peoples' Representatives, lawmakers officially appointed Ahmed Shide as Speaker of the House to guide parliamentary proceedings. Concurrently, the House of Federation opened the first regular session of its seventh term to select its executive leadership, appointing Muferihat Kamil as Speaker and selecting Desta Ledamo to serve as Deputy Speaker to complete the new leadership team.
