Ethiopia, Nigeria Agree to Reinforce Multifaceted Bilateral Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has held constructive discussions with Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, to ensure food security, exchange experiences on nutrition, and further strengthen their multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

The deputy prime minister pointed out that the two countries are bound by a strategic partnership. He explained that by leveraging their large population sizes and economic potential in a coordinated manner, they possess immense potential to shape Africa for the better.

He expressed gratitude for the visit paid by Nigeria's delegation to recognize the tangible success achieved through Ethiopia’s Seqota Declaration program. He also highlighted that Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima's commitment to improving nutrition in his country serves as an exemplary model for the continent.

He furthermore vowed to enhance people-to-people relations and diplomatic ties between the two nations; he noted that Ethiopia has implemented a visa-free travel system and procedural improvements for Nigerian citizens holding diplomatic and service passports.

In the investment sector, they discussed the significant contribution of Nigerian investor Aliko Dangote to Ethiopia's development, as well as the broad opportunities for other Nigerian investors to engage in various investment sectors in Ethiopia moving forward.
