The House of Peoples' Representatives endorsed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s nominees for the Medemer Government Council of Ministers this morning, confirming a full lineup of leadership across the federal ministries.
The newly approved cabinet features Dr. Gedion Timotheos as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Addisu Arega as Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Fitsum Assefa as Minister of Finance, and Mohammed Idris as Minister of Defense.
Professor Berhanu Nega takes on the role of Minister of Education, Hana Arayaselassie is the Minister of Justice, Yasmin Wohabrebbi leads Trade and Regional Integration, and Dr. Feseha Yetagessu serves as Minister of Industry.
Further appointments include Dr. Habtamu Itefa as Minister of Water and Energy, Dr. Mekdes Daba as Minister of Health, Awelu Abdi as Minister of Labor and Skills, and Aynalem Nigussie as Minister of Revenues.
Rounding out the council are Bereket Fesehatsion as Minister of National Strategy, Selamawit Kassa as Minister of Culture and Tourism, Alemtsehay Paulos as Minister of Mines, Sadat Nesha as Minister of Logistics, and Shewit Shanka as Minister of Women and Social Affairs.
Additional leadership positions are filled by Mussa Adem as Minister of Peace, Frehiwot Tamiru as Minister of Innovation and Technology, Engineer Mohammed Abdurahman as Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Dr. Sultan Weli as Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands, and Dr. Aklilu Tadesse as Minister of Youth and Sport.
