Ethiopia has officially called upon the United Nations to issue an unequivocal condemnation of Eritrea, citing what it describes as "blatant violations" of sovereignty and international law.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye today held discussions with Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative to the African Union and Head of the United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU), Ozonnia Ojielo, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, and Guang Cong, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa.
During the discussions, Ambassador Berhanu briefed the high-level officials on the situation in Northern Ethiopia, particularly highlighting Eritrea’s continued aggression and direct military involvement across different fronts along the border.
The State Minister called upon the United Nations to unequivocally condemn these flagrant violations of sovereignty and international law by the Eritrean government. He emphasized that addressing this unprovoked aggression is critical to preserving regional stability, safeguarding ongoing peace efforts, and ensuring accountability across the Horn of Africa.
