Fruits, Veggies Seeds Distributed to Farmers in Tigray, Amhara

SNV Netherlands, a not-for-profit international development organisation that makes a lasting difference in the lives of people living in poverty by helping them raise incomes and access basic services, has provided support to farmers in the Amhara and Tigray states, mainly consisting of fruit and vegetable seeds.

The SNV supported fruit and vegetable seeds to be distributed to 4,000 farmers in Amhara and Tigray states affected by conflict and drought.

State Minister for Agriculture Meles Mekonen (PhD) underlined that the aid is aimed at rehabilitating areas affected by conflict and drought and supporting the lives of farmers.

The support includes red onion, tomato, pepper and watermelon seeds, is sufficient to develop 371 hectares of land.

Director of the SNV Netherlands, Julie Graham, said that the organization is providing various support to improve the lives of farmers.

He added that the SNV not only provides seed support, but also offers general fruit and vegetable production trainings.//
