A 70-member Ethiopian art group, "Kin Ethiopia," is preparing to embark on a cultural diplomacy mission to China this Sunday, July 20, 2025. The initiative, themed "The Dawn of Ethiopia's Revival," aims to introduce Ethiopia's vibrant culture, diverse arts, and renowned coffee to a global audience.
The delegation will travel to Beijing and other Chinese cities, presenting a variety of performances that highlight the unique traditions and artistic expressions of Ethiopia's many nations and nationalities.
Tesfahune Gobezaye, State Minister for Government Communication Service, underscored the vital role of art in fostering cultural diplomacy and promoting a nation on the global stage. He noted that efforts to revitalize Ethiopia's art sector are underway and will continue to be strengthened.
Assistant Professor Nebiyou Baye, State Minister for Culture and Sports, emphasized the importance of showcasing Ethiopia's rich history and profound culture to the world in a manner commensurate with its grandeur. He expressed confidence that the "Kin Ethiopia" journey will play a crucial role in achieving this objective.
Assistant Professor Nebiyou also highlighted that the tour is expected to bolster government-to-government relations between Ethiopia and China, anticipating a warm reception for the group.
Artist Kamuzu Kassa, discussing the preparations and upcoming activities, confirmed that the group will use their time in China to introduce Ethiopian culture, fine arts, handicrafts, traditional attire, and the distinctive taste of Ethiopian coffee.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports will lead the delegation, which comprises individuals deeply knowledgeable in the diverse cultural heritage of various Ethiopian regions.
This cultural tour marks the beginning of the "Year of Ethiopian Art Revival," signaling a sustained commitment to promoting and strengthening the nation's artistic endeavors internationally.
