Addis Ababa Inaugurates New Public Facilities, Mayor Vows to Continue Inclusive Development

Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie today inaugurated and opened new market centers and a parking lot built at the Arat Kilo Plaza, reaffirming the city administration's commitment to inclusive development.

During the opening ceremony, Mayor Adanech stated that the projects are a testament to the city's focus on "people-centered" initiatives that are being completed with quality and on schedule. She emphasized that the facilities were constructed with new innovations while preserving the capital's historical identity.

"Our political work is to benefit the people and ensure prosperity," the mayor said, adding that these projects are proof of the administration's dedication to fulfilling its promises. She also reiterated that the city administration will work diligently to ensure the continuity of suitable and inclusive development projects for all residents.

The newly inaugurated facilities include a parking lot capable of accommodating 100 cars at a time and a variety of shops. The mayor also noted that the project features spaces where residents can comfortably access printed materials, with areas designed to accommodate more than 5,000 people, ENA learned.

Jantirar Abay, the Deputy Mayor and Head of the Industry Development Bureau, added that beyond the ongoing corridor development, the city is undertaking projects specifically designed to benefit residents. He highlighted that these facilities, which were built at a high cost within a year, are part of this broader effort.
