The Yem Zone is one of the administrative zones located within the Central Ethiopia Region.
While the zone is home to numerous mountains, Mount Bor stands out as a prominent one among them. Mount Bor is widely recognized as "The Mountain of Healing."
Every year on October 27th (Tikimt 17 on the Ethiopian calendar), from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, traditional medicine suitable for both humans and livestock is gathered from this mountain. This annual ceremonial practice of gathering medicine is known as "Samoeta."
To protect the mountain from soil erosion, conservation terracing has been constructed around it.
Mount Bor rises to an elevation of 2,939 meters above sea level.
