On July 23, 2026, the Colombian Embassy in Ethiopia marked its National Day with a vibrant celebration at the Sheraton Addis International Hotel, attended by diplomats, government officials, and esteemed guests. This event showcased Colombia's rich cultural heritage through traditional music and dance performances, alongside a sampling of authentic Colombian cuisine.

Ambassador Meneses Copete delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the robust relationship between Colombia and Ethiopia. He expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Ethiopian government and emphasised the significance of enhancing diplomatic relations and cultural exchanges.

The occasion not only celebrated Colombia's national pride but also served as a pivotal platform for reinforcing partnerships between the two nations. Ambassador Meles Alem, Director General for European and American Affairs at Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed greetings from the Ethiopian government, underscoring a mutual commitment to advancing bilateral relations.

Ambassador Meles noted that the collaboration between Ethiopia and Colombia transcends symbolic gestures, citing Ethiopian Airlines' decision to establish Bogotá as its cargo hub for South America as a practical example of this partnership. Such initiatives are vital for promoting trade and cultural interactions.
