PM Abiy has Held Productive Economic Diplomacy During his stay in Republic of Korea & Singapore: MoFA

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs proclaimed that while in Singapore and the Republic of Korea, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) carried out flourishing economic diplomacy.

Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ethiopia, briefed the journalists on the historic diplomatic engagements of the previous week and other forthcoming national initiatives.

In his remarks, the spokesperson emphasized that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and his senior leadership had abundant discussions on a wide range of shared interests with the trade and investment delegation from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan that was in Ethiopia.

Moreover, it was emphasized that a four-year, $1 billion deal for development finance cooperation was agreed upon between Ethiopia and the Republic of Korea amid the extraordinarily productive engagements of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and his delegation to Singapore and the Republic of Korea.

Nebiyu said the long-standing diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia will be deepened by the Kingdom’s trade and investment envoy to Addis Ababa. The two countries will work together to advance their shared interests in the areas of economy, politics, peace, and security, among others.

In the same vein, following fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and other high-ranking government officials, the delegation deemed that they had been able to identify prospects in other significant sectors of the economy, such as mining, energy, transportation, and logistics. He claimed that Pakistani businessmen will have the chance to learn about development prospects in Ethiopia as a result of the visit of over 70 trade and investment teams to Ethiopia.

As per the statement provided by Spokesperson of Minister of Foreign Affairs Nebiyu Tedla, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Misganu Arga, claimed that the trade and investment forum and expo between Ethiopia and Turkey held in Istanbul was a triumph of economic diplomacy. On the other hand, he said that the training provided to South Sudanese diplomats in Addis Ababa would elevate the friendship between the two nations.

The spokesperson further highlighted to the media that Ambassador Taye Atskeselassie, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has wrapped up his discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, on bilateral issues of concern.

Furthermore, according to Spokesperson Nebiyu, Minister Ambassador Taye has also met with representatives of numerous international organizations embedded in Addis Ababa, such as the ambassadors of Spain and Qatar in Ethiopia, as well as Ramiz Alakbarov, the Assistant Secretary-General and Coordinator for Humanitarian Aid in Ethiopia. //
