Bole Residents Receive Medical Relief

Aug 04, 2025

Black Lion Specialised Hospital kicked off a three-day free medical service initiative today, benefiting 5,000 residents in Bole Sub-district, Addis Ababa.

The initiative aims to provide critical pre-diagnosis and treatment as part of a larger summer volunteer program organised by the Bole Sub-district Administration.

This is just the beginning. The Administration, partnering with both private and public health institutions, plans to extend free medical services to over 13,500 residents throughout the summer program. The focus is to address the growing healthcare needs within the community.

The current initiative at Black Lion provides crucial pre-diagnosis and treatment, specifically targeting children and adolescents.

Services include general medicine check-ups and screenings for neurological issues.

Furthermore, critical screenings are offered for cervical and breast cancer, along with diabetes testing for both adults and children.

Patients requiring more specialised care beyond the scope of the volunteer program will receive referrals to Black Lion Specialised Hospital and other appropriate facilities.

This ensures continuity of care and access to more advanced treatments. This collaboration underlines the commitment of Black Lion and Bole Sub-district Administration to bolstering public health and improving the well-being of its residents.
