The Minister of Education, Professor Birhanu Nega, announced that the "Education for a Generation" initiative is playing a vital role in addressing financial shortfalls within Ethiopia's education sector.
Speaking at a national consultation forum on general education development in Hawassa, Professor Birhanu stated that the movement is a key part of the broader national effort to improve education quality across the country. He noted that the initiative is specifically designed to meet the financial demands necessary for this widespread reform.
To further bolster education quality, the minister revealed that a new, digitized general education data management system will be implemented in 2025 to resolve existing data handling issues.
Additionally, Professor Birhanu highlighted the success of the school feeding program in boosting academic performance. He urged for the program's expansion and strengthening, particularly in rural parts of the country.
The Ministry also indicated that extensive preparations are already underway to ensure all necessary educational materials and inputs are available for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year.
