In an official statement, President Ndayishimiye described the election outcome as a notable victory and a renewed democratic mandate, reflecting the trust and confidence of the people of Ethiopia in the Prime Minister's leadership to guide the nation toward sustainable peace, stability, and economic growth.
President Ndayishimiye highlighted Ethiopia's role as the historic host nation of the African Union, emphasizing that a strong, unified, and prosperous Ethiopia remains pivotal to the advancement of their shared continental agenda.
He further noted that they look forward to continuing close collaboration to strengthen regional integration, enhance democratic governance, and champion the principle of "African solutions to African problems" to inspire a more unified, prosperous, and peaceful Africa.
Responding to the message, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the Burundian leader, stating that the warm congratulations on behalf of Burundi and the African Union truly uplifted them.
