Prosperity Party Council Sets Priorities for National Progress

The Prosperity Party Council has issued a new statement following a four-day meeting, outlining its strategy to counter what it calls a "final attempt" by Ethiopia's historical enemies to undermine the nation's progress. The meeting, which took place from August 6-8, 2025, focused on Ethiopia's national interests amidst evolving global and regional geopolitical dynamics.

The council’s statement contends that despite achieving a military victory in the northern conflict and finalizing a peace agreement in Pretoria, the nation's adversaries have not abandoned their efforts. It claims these enemies are now using local extremists and digital media campaigns to incite conflict and discredit the government. The council asserts these efforts have been unsuccessful, and that the country has learned from past internal divisions, strengthening its national unity and institutional capacity.

The statement highlights key successes over the past seven years, including:

Political and Economic Reforms: These reforms have reportedly reduced internal vulnerabilities and marginalized collaborators.

Geostrategic Posture: The council cites its actions regarding the Nile as having improved the nation's standing in the region.

Access to the Sea: The council has elevated the nation's right to a sea outlet to an international agenda, stating it has made significant progress in restoring its geostrategic position in the Red Sea.

To address current and future threats, the council has adopted a new three-pronged strategy: Resisting, Striving, and Purifying.

Resisting: The council has vowed to counter enemy conspiracies and enforce the law against those who reject peaceful solutions.

Striving: The statement emphasizes a renewed focus on development, with a commitment to making progress in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, mining, and information technology. It also promises to address public concerns regarding good governance, justice, and the economy.

Purifying: The council has pledged to tackle corruption and administrative misconduct, while also removing what it defines as detrimental ideologies, habits, and infiltrators that threaten the nation’s journey toward prosperity.

The council's statement concludes with a call for resolute action from its members to ensure Ethiopia's success.
