The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, in collaboration with federal and regional stakeholders, is currently evaluating the performance of the "Rural Connectivity and Accessibility for Food Security Program" for the 2018 fiscal year.

Designed to boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security through the expansion of rural road and transport networks, the program is actively underway across 126 districts.

According to the Ministry, 1,123 infrastructure projects have been completed and are now operational. These multifaceted initiatives have directly benefited more than 3.4 million rural residents.

Beyond easing the burden on farmers transporting their agricultural produce to market, this enhanced connectivity has brought essential social services, including healthcare and education, much closer to local communities.

Officials also noted that the initiative significantly curbs post-harvest crop losses typically caused by inadequate road infrastructure, while simultaneously generating extensive employment opportunities for the local population.
