The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has begun conducting pre-consultation briefings at the Adwa Victory Memorial for participants of the upcoming national dialogue assembly, which is scheduled to commence on July 15, 2026. 

Chief Commissioner Professor Mesfin Araya described the gathering as a historic milestone, noting that it marks the first time Ethiopians have come together to listen to one another and engage in dialogue regarding critical issues such as peace, nation-building, human rights, and social development. 

Professor Mesfin emphasized that just as unity served as the foundation for founding the nation and preserving its sovereignty, the current effort to openly discuss long-standing grievances demonstrates a firm collective resolve to overcome the country's challenges.

The Commission is currently providing participants with comprehensive guidance on the dialogue’s methodology and their roles within the process. The sessions are designed to instill core values governing the assembly, including inclusivity, active participation, cooperation, equality, and the cultivation of positive relationships, all aimed at fostering group cohesion and the pursuit of consensus. 

In addition to outlining the procedural framework and schedule, the briefing serves to clarify how participants should engage throughout the assembly. This platform marks the official and continuous start of a sustained national journey toward achieving broader consensus.
