For the first time ever in Europe, two of humanity's most cherished treasures have arrived together, as the world-renowned fossil remains of "Lucy" and "Selam" have officially gone on display at the National Museum in Prague. The landmark exhibition has launched a new era of cultural diplomacy between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic, captivating visitors with a rare glimpse into our shared ancient past.
The official opening was attended by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Ethiopia's Minister of Tourism, Selamawit Kassa. In her speech, Minister Selamawit underscored the profound significance of the fossils' presence, particularly for historians and researchers. She noted that the exhibition also serves as an invaluable opportunity to showcase and promote Ethiopia to the world, extending a warm invitation for visitors to come and explore the country's rich heritage in person.
Prime Minister Fiala spoke about the extensive preparations undertaken to host this exhibition, which chronicles the origins of humanity. He encouraged visitors, especially parents, to bring their children to see the fossils in person, urging them to contemplate the universal question of "where we came from."
The Director of the Czech National Museum, Dr. Michal Lukeš, stated that the exhibition is a major milestone that will significantly strengthen the ties between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to Ethiopia for entrusting the Czech Republic with this precious treasure.
The exhibition at the Czech National Museum will be open to the public for 60 days.
