In a speech delivered at the 39th African Union Summit currently underway in Addis Ababa, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa expressed deep gratitude for the continent's long-standing solidarity regarding the freedom and sovereignty of the Palestinian people.
The Prime Minister noted that the historical relationship between Palestine and Africa is built on respecting the right of peoples to self-determination. He further affirmed a commitment to collaborating on development, knowledge sharing, and economic integration in the future.
During his address, the prime minister explained to the assembly the concerning humanitarian impacts the current regional crisis is having on the population. He called for an immediate end to the conflict to establish peace and for conditions to be facilitated so that humanitarian aid can reach those affected without any disruption.
Highlighting Palestine's attainment of full membership in various United Nations agencies as a significant diplomatic victory, Mohammad Mustafa expressed his appreciation for the African Union’s support in achieving this milestone.
Finally, he voiced his support for Africa to strengthen its role on the global stage and extended his best wishes for peace and prosperity to the peoples of the continent.
