"Our flag is the symbol of our Medemer value, our unity, and Ethiopia's ascent" — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh
Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has characterized the national flag as the country’s emblem of ascent, emphasizing that it honors the sacrifices of past generations, reflects the dedication of present-day citizens, and signals a future defined by prosperity.
In a statement marking the 19th National Flag Day, the Deputy Prime Minister extended his warm congratulations and best wishes to all Ethiopians on the occasion.
He affirmed that the core objective of the Medemer administration is to guide Ethiopia toward greater heights through unity, peace, sustainable development, and comprehensive prosperity. He stressed that the national flag must stand as a testament to multinational unity rather than a flashpoint for division.
While acknowledging the country's rich diversity in ethnicity, language, culture, and faith, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen emphasized that Ethiopians remain bound together by a shared identity and a collective vision for development. The concept of Medemer, he noted, calls on citizens to view these differences as a national asset, strengthen shared values, and work collaboratively to realize the country's potential.
Concluding his address on this national milestone, the Deputy Prime Minister urged citizens across the nation to raise the flag high as a tangible demonstration of their enduring commitment to unity, peace, sovereignty, and Ethiopia’s long-term prosperity.
