The European Union has reaffirmed its strong political backing for Ethiopia, recognizing the country as a crucial and reliable stabilizing partner amid ongoing security concerns in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.

The commitment came during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, where an Ethiopian delegation met with EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela. Their discussions focused on Ethiopia's ongoing economic growth, the situation in the country's northern region, shared development priorities, and avenues for future cooperation.

Commissioner Síkela emphasized that amid persistent regional pressures and shifting challenges, Ethiopia stands out as a critical stabilizing force in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea zone. He reiterated the EU's firm political commitment to the nation, noting that the bloc will continue to bolster its support for Ethiopia's stability, development, and strategic role in the region.
