Council Declares National Dialogue, Transitional Justice, DDR Process as Foundations for Enduring Peace.

The Ethiopian National Security Council has issued a statement highlighting the imperative to heal the deep-rooted divisions within the nation through an all-encompassing strategy. Emphasizing the gravity of recent events like the conflict in the northern region, the Council outlined three pivotal mechanisms to tackle both existing and emerging political challenges.

Firstly, the National Dialogue initiative is set to kick off imminently at the regional level, with 12,294 participants already chosen from 679 Woredas. This inclusive dialogue aims to foster unity and understanding across diverse communities, laying the groundwork for sustainable peace.

Secondly, the Transitional Justice process, integral to addressing grievances and promoting reconciliation, stands as a beacon of hope for those affected by past injustices. By confronting historical wrongs head-on, Ethiopia can pave the way for a more equitable future.

Lastly, the National Rehabilitation Commission's tireless efforts to reintegrate ex-combatants into society via the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) process underscore the government's commitment to healing the wounds of conflict.

Moreover, amidst the ongoing challenges, strides are being made to repatriate displaced citizens, particularly from conflict-ridden areas like the northern region, Oromia, and Amhara. The commendable efforts of regional leadership in facilitating the return of IDPs to their homes signify a step towards restoring stability and rebuilding shattered communities.

The Council's unwavering support for these initiatives underscores their pivotal role in fostering lasting peace and prosperity. Furthermore, the government's dedication to inclusive democratic governance deserves recognition, reflecting its commitment to ensuring the voices of all Ethiopians are heard and valued in shaping the nation's future.
